This week, I did a small painting that started out great and ended with a thud. Fortunately, my Painting-A-Week challenge isn't about beauty or perfection (thank goodness) - the goal is simply to do it.
This is a small watercolor study, about 3" x 5". It was going really well until I added the orange. PHOOEY! Adding contrasting colors is not my strong suit, as this proves.
I really love everything that's happening in the upper third, above the yellow mess. So there's that.
I could keep working on this in an attempt to salvage it, but one thing I like about this challenge is that the painting is D-O-N-E when I post it.
It's said that a finished piece is better than a perfect piece. So this is good for me - saying "It's finished" even when I know it's not perfect (and believe me, I know this one is a far cry from perfect). On to the next!
